Fernandina Beach
It's only a 45 minute drive over the border to Fernandina Beach. If you want to see the sand and waves, this is a fun trip. It's got historical stuff and real ocean stuff (sharks' teeth, if you have sharp eyes). A beautiful afternoon.

Okefenokee National Wildlife Refuge
My favorite day-trip - There is plenty to do and the walking is easy. First, I check out the education center to see what's happening and figure out how to plan the day. I always plan a picnic and bring your cold water to enjoy as you walk through the day. A "must-do" is the tower overlooking the swamp. Then head over to the old homestead. Use the link to check their schedules, as they have different events all year around.

Woodbine Opry
This is a nice evening - local talent of varying degrees. A little something different. See the link above for more information.

Jacksonville Zoo
It's about 40 minutes down I-95 to the Jacksonville Zoo. They just opened a new area called Tuxedo Island, home to the new troop of penguins.

Cumberland Island
This is a very popular day trip, and was voted 1 of America's 10 best beaches by the Travel Channel. You get an early start with the ferry over to the island - leaving on time at 9am and 11:45am. The boat returns at 10:15am and 4:45pm. They have camping on the island: This is a "rustic" day so backpacks and walking is the way for most. There are bike rentals on the island at seacamp. Be sure to call ahead and make reservations, as the ferry fills up quickly.
