About Us

A Big Wheel RV Park is proud to be a part of the St. Marys community.   We offer travelers a peaceful place to stay while experiencing the local nature and beauty of  our area and the surrounding Georgia Golden Isles.  Our park officially opened to campers in 2006, but work on our family owned and operated park began in 2003.  Ron and Karen Moody began planning and designing a small RV park on 7 wooded acres in St. Marys Georgia, with the help of their adult children and young grandchildren on the weekends.   The property was developed around the trees to preserve as much nature and local beauty as possible.   Slowly but surely the park began to take shape one pedestal and pad at a time, and A Big Wheel opened for business with just 5 pull through full hook-up sites.

A bathhouse was built with an open air porch, which was eventually closed-in to become a year round game room and gathering space.   Surrounding parcels were purchased over the years, and A Big Wheel expanded to 12 mature, wooded acres with 24 pull through full hookup sites.

In 2021, Ron and Karen’s son and daughter-in-law officially took over the family business.   It is not uncommon to see three generations of Moody’s in the park mowing grass, splitting firewood or running the office.

Take a look through some of our family photos showing how we have grown (the park, our children and our grands!)  throughout the years.   For more pictures follow A Big Wheel RV Park on Facebook.
